The SolidWorks Activator by Team SolidSquad (SSQ) is a software tool designed to activate SolidWorks without the need for a valid license or activation key. The activator is a popular solution among users who want to use the software without the constraints of a trial version or the costs associated with purchasing a legitimate license. The SSQ team, known for their expertise in developing activators and cracks for various software applications, created the SolidWorks Activator to provide users with a free and unrestricted version of the software.
The activator asks the user for their computer name and MAC address. It then generates a fake sw_d.lic file. This file looks authentic to SolidWorks but contains a "Floating License" signature that points to localhost (the user's own PC) rather than a genuine network server.
Modern SolidWorks versions contain "phone home" telemetry. Even if the SSQ activator silences the license warning, the software may still send a UDP packet to Dassault Systèmes containing your MAC address and hard drive serial number. Once Dassault blacklists that hardware ID, you cannot install a legitimate license later without changing your hardware.
